Honoured to show work at this beautiful one off event last night in Loughborough. Based on the theme ‘The Threshold’… it was special to offer work based on the edges of the day…the threshold between day-night, night-day where light and darkness meet. For me it is a liminal moment to pause and often reflect…a moment where we so often experience an unexplainable beauty and sense of something so much bigger than ourselves.

Putting the final marks on this painting was so special. It’s the final one for my upcoming exhibition -& it’s possibly my favourite…

This is the first view I had when I arrived on Lindisfarne last Sept, and for many pilgrims crossing the causeway it’s theirs too… how fitting that it should also be my view as I mark the end of my painting process too …

To say it’s been quite a pilgrimage to get to this point is no exaggeration.

We all walk a journey somewhere and we need to have moments to notice and celebrate just how far we have come! This is mine! … I made it!!

Painting alongside @rebeccarodda_ , we have been in Hastings at the Day Dream Cafe, and Ashburnham Place Retreat centre . Having time for improvisation & creativity amongst people from across the world. I am still processing it all but very grateful to have been part of it . Thank you to @hannahatkins_latty for helping facilitate it all. It was beyond a dream !

Watching harbour life and gig- races during the summer regattas in Cornwall and North Devon was incredible. So captivating and full of life and energy ! Coming home and trying the capture the movement and beauty in paint is quite an ask but I’m loving giving it a go!

Sometimes we make work that we don’t have words for. I have sat with this one… it is my cry for peace. As we watch on our screens the news across the world and in Gaza we feel the earthquake ,wind and fire and I find myself longing for a ‘still small voice of calm’. It is a prayer.

Completely transfixed by the light and colour in this view … another painting at dusk… I seem to have discovered a love for detail at the moment. Using the subtle colour and marks to take your eyes and imagination across the harbour and out to sea perhaps ..?

It’s not often I long for a book NOT to end.. but ‘Raising hare’ by Chloe Dalton made me do exactly that. It is a beautiful read and I didn’t want to put it down! I found myself needing to paint the picture of the hare she described… In all its wild beauty and its comings and goings.
I am grateful for a book that has made me stop and see the world differently.. looking at nature and our small interactions with it, as a priceless gift .
So this was my response. Enjoy ☺️ and perhaps if you haven’t yet read it- this could be a nudge to get it or to simply slow down a little and look outside. We are surrounded by little enchanting miracles of creation everywhere. Happy Friday xx
