Inspired by a creative pilgrimage to the beautiful Holy Island – Lindisfarne, these paintings are based on the theme of ’the edges of the day'.

 

Waiting at sunrise and sunset, paint brush in hand, I used a wide range of mediums and styles to capture the breathtaking, liminal space that emerged, just as things moved from day to night, night to day.

 

On this most  'holy' Island, I was reminded of how often we seem to encounter God in the edges of things - like dawn & dusk... I wondered if perhaps we also often find God in the edges of our lives - when we feel at our most vulnerable or on the margins of society.

 

This work is an attempt to both mark and celebrate these edges.
